Former President Jimmy Carter has called for the United States to shutdown the Guantanamo Bay prison.
"The U.S. continues to suffer terrible embarrassment and a blow to our reputation ... because of reports concerning abuses of prisoners in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo,"
Apparently ex-president Carter is more concerned about being embarrassed over alleged reports and rumors than he is over any actual threat to the lives and well being of American Citizens.
What does former President Carter expect us to do with the detainees at Guantanamo? He doesn't say, but if we shut down Guantanamo then we really only have two choices - let them go, or move them to facilites on the US mainland. Neither are choices I would back or recommend.
So how about an opinion from one of those U.S. Citizens whose reputation he is so concerned about:
"I am concerned that the U.S. continues to suffer terrible embarrassment and a blow to our reputation ... because of reports concerning ex-president Carter siding with our enemies in the Global War on Terror."
or maybe this one:
"I am concerned that the U.S. continues to suffer terrible embarrassment and a blow to our reputation ... because of we are constantly being reminded that we were once stupid and naive enough to elect this deluded peanut picker to be our president."
or finally:
"What part of Global War on Terror do you not understand? These are our enemies you are championing. These are people that will do or say anything for a chance to undermine the resolve and strength of the United States of America. To see a man who was once known as the leader of the free world working to destroy the country he once led is sickening."
But then those are just one common everyday American's opinions, and what do I know, I'm not as smart as a peanut farmer.
